| Home About YushinDaiko Performance Schedule Picture Galleries Member Profiles Merchandise External Links Contact Us | "YushinDaiko: A Japanese American Taiko Group" is currently seeking New Members Previous experience with Music, Taiko, or Japanese language is not required!YushinDaiko focuses on more than just the playing mechanics of Taiko. As a Member you will learn about the history and relevance of different styles of Taiko and other Japanese instruments, how to use your entire body while playing taiko, and about Japanese culture and history, including some Tea Ceremony, Japanese vocabulary, various folk songs, and festivals. Members receive full access to our members website featuring learning materials, forum, personal calendars, pictures and fun! Practice is held Monday and Thursday nights From 7:30 to 9:30 PM in the Beacon Hill Area. Most performances occur on weekends. New Members are encouraged to help as general staff for performances but are not required to attend Performances. New Members are tested every 6 months on knowledge, vocabulary, and technical aptitude for advancement in levels, Sempai (Senior) Level members are tested once yearly. All members will participate in two tea gatherings (chakai) each year. Modest Yearly membership dues are payable in monthly istallments which are Less than the average price of a single music lesson! Members' first set of bachi (drumming sticks) will be provided. Candidates should be at least 20 years old, thrive in a team, have a strong sense of personal integrity and responsibility, and enjoy learning and challenging themselves.
